- The slaveholders named Melchiorre and Corrado Imperiale manumits an enslaved Circassian woman named Maria, who is approximately 60 years of age. Corrado is represented in the transaction by his son Melchiorre Imperiale. The contract states that Melchiorre must provide food, clothing, and all necessities to Maria for the remainder of her life provided provided she resides in the home of Corrado or Melchiorre. It also states that if Corrado attempts to re-enslave or burden Maria in any way, then Melchiorre must pay her, or the Office of the Misericordia (if Maria is unable to receive payment), the sum of 150 Genoese lire. Corrado and Melchiorre retain the right of patronage.
