Gaspare is purchasing the enslaved Margarita on behalf of another person, but the contract is unclear about who that might me.

  The slaveholder named Violante Calcine sells an enslaved Russian woman named Maddalena, who is approximately 30 years of age, to a merchant from Mallorca named Guillermo de Puris, for 110 Genoese lire. Violante is absent during the transaction and is represented by a certain Miguel de Rosens who serves as her procurator. The sale allows the buyer to return the enslaved Maddalena within 24 hours should she be discovered as suffering from any infirmity.

  The slaveholder and wool merchant from Montefegatesi named Antonio Iocho sells an enslaved Russian woman named Maddalena, who is approximately 20 years of age, to a certain Gaspare Gentile. for 120 Genoese lire. The contract contains the condition that the enslaved Maddalena is not to be held in the city of Genoa, and if she is found in Genoa, that she will revert to the property of Antonio. However, if Maddalena should be freed by Gaspare, she would be allowed to reside in Genoa.
